I agree that it’s not cool, but what they think is that YOU represent the company, and if YOU don’t make them happy then the company sucks and it’s your fault! (Even if there is nothing you could have done any better).
I believe EVERYONE should have to work at least one year in retail just so they could see what it feels like! :o )

Do they come back to harrass you? All I know is that some retail service clerks are themselves abusive and run off customers. What about that. If it were their store, would they do that? I think they would be more respectful.
I was in a store yesterday, and a clerk called me a word, and she was the word herself!

I call it the “White Trash Syndrome.”
In the olden days, in the deep south, there was an element of the White population lovingly refereed to as, “White Trash,” who could not find anyone lower than themselves to pick on. So they often bullied the poor black slaves, who could not fight or argue back.
Have you noticed the type of people who bully the poor retail store clerks?
    Same thing, another day!

They see you as part of the place that caused them their problem. They have no one else to yell at. It’s just part of the job dealing with their complaints.

Hey, Babe been there …. I worked retail for many years… I have been called Everything… I do mean Everything. What gives Joe Consumer that right….who knows. I feel sorry for them that they have so little control over their emotions that they have to vent at the clerks. Some do it in front of their children, what an example they set.

My first job was at a MacDonald’s. I had a theory that we were easy targets for frustrated workers everywhere. One man screamed at me for forgetting his salad fork. It sucked beyond compare!
