As in any business, it is critical to have the right systems and processes - therefore using a built for purpose accounting system can save, time, money and hassle.  Many accounting systems do not fit a retail business, and the information is forced into the system - mainly because most accounting systems are built for service and manufacturing businesses where sales are made on credit and processed through a sales ledger. 

Within retail, it is important to automate as much as possible as there is a high volume of transactions and you include the cash difference, sales per category etc - it is always recommended that you integrated your POS/BOS with your general ledger online retail accounting system.
